In February of 1970, Plymouth announced addition of the AAR 'Cuda. Available mid-year, production started March 10, 1970 and ended five weeks later on April 17, 1970. While not the most powerful Barracuda in Plymouths 1970 lineup, it was the most unique. The street versions of the Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda and the Dodge Challenger T/A were the results of Chryslers involvement in the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Trans Am auto racing series. These E-bodies were different from any other high performance car built by Ma Mopar. You could not order a Plymouth AAR 'Cuda, Chrysler informed each eligible dealer of the number of cars they would be allotted. Only 2,724 examples of the All American Racers Plymouth 'Cuda were produced. The Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda and the Dodge Challenger T/A are very sought after and also very valuable these days.

Thanks for your informative blog! I've never owned a slot car set myself, and have been thinking of getting one for my 11 year to get some non-computer/video game interests going for him (he's lost interest mostly in model trains!). I find your posts very helfpul. My fear of slot cars is the memories of friends sets from the 1970's when the cars would never stay in the slot, would always lose contact, and would never really give you any of the joy that you would expect! It seems like things have improved over the past several decades...is that right?

Yes, things have improved a lot. Of course if you are too fast in a bend the car will go out, but they work smoothly now and you can have a lot of fun. I would recommend you to go to a club in your area so you can check them there. The best brands are:
- HO, AFX racing
- 1/32, SCX, Carrera, Scalextric and the one I like more Ninco.

I was surfing the net when I found this interesting slot cars producer, a chinese company named Jin Jun toys . If we check some of their slot cars sets the boxes are amazingly close to ??? Yes, maybe they built them in China for the Euroepean company and now they are using the know-how. Has anybody tried them? how do they work? I´ll try to get a set and post about it. The history of SCX or spanish Scalextric

In 1962, the English company Lines Bros Ltd, owner of the trademark Scalextric , signed a contract with the Spanish company Exin . This Spanish company would sell the Scalextric products in Spain and Portugal, manufacturing everything but the cars in Spain. After some time, even the cars would be done in Spain. Exin created soon their own line of models, being the first one the famous Seat 600 in 1966. In 1971 Lines Bros Ltd, as a result of its financial problems, sold the Scalextric line of products to Dunbee , Combex and Marx. Exin went on being a subsidiary of Scalextric and selling their products in Spain. And they got more independence from the mother company.
