Hummer from SCX




SCX® presents the imposing Hummer H3, the third civilian version of the popular four-wheel drive from the American manufacturer. This five-door model keeps the charismatic lines of its predecessors, but with measurements which are more in line with European standards.
The model brought to you this time by SCX® is large in size with a blue and black colour
scheme, with the darker part highlighting an aggressive design which is highly appropriate to a four-wheel drive. The spectacular front end has a pair of headlights at the sides as well as the two usual ones, in addition to which four more are fitted below the radiator. All the lights are in eye-catching silver and all of them light up on this model. In the place of the front number plate
is a “Mile Marker” logo.
The bonnet of the Hummer H3 has a black air intake, alongside which is the car’s race number (760) and above it the word “HUMMER”. There is no windscreen and above the drivers there is a grey structure with four large lights, which you will also see lighting up on the track. Under these the name of this four-wheel drive’s American manufacturer appears once more.
The rear view mirrors are silver in colour and the side windows on both the driver’s and co-driver’s side are covered by grilles. The race number takes up nearly the whole of the small rear side windows. On the doors are the names of the vehicle’s two occupants, Rod Hall and Mike Winkel.
SCX® reproduces the different sponsors’ logos all over the side of the vehicle, especially
towards the back, which also features the silver-coloured petrol cap. All the logos are in silver or white, except “Score International”, which combines black, red and white. The wheels are eye-catchingly large in diameter.
The only logo at the back of this Hummer H3 is that of the manufacturer, above the rear
window, accompanied by the car’s race number. The rear lights are rectangular and vertical to take up the minimum of space, and there is a silver-coloured protective bar under them.
The only decoration on the roof is the car’s race number. Inside a spare wheel can be seen,
along with anti-roll bars and the figures of the driver and co-driver. All of this packed into this little monster from SCX®.

The Real Hummer H3

SCX® has reproduced the Hummer H3 driven by Rod Hall and Mike Winkel. The H3 is a
medium-sized utility vehicle, the little brother of the imposing H1 and H2, and is made in
Colorado. Compared with the H2, the H3 is rather lower, but it keeps the Hummer personality at a more economical price, depending on the package of options it comes with.
The engine in the Hummer H3 is a Vortec 3500, with five cylinders in line and a twin camshaft on the cylinder head and variable valve timing, delivering 220 horsepower and 225 pounds of torque. One of the H3’s main new features is that it is the first member of its family to come equipped with five-speed manual transmission. It also comes with electronically-controlled 4-speed automatic transmission.
The model brought to you here by SCX® is the one driven by Rod Hall and Mike Winkel to win the Baja 500 in California in the year 2006. This competition is an international off-road race held in the desert on the peninsula of Baja California, Mexico. It traditionally starts and finishes in the port city of Ensenada, Baja California. The race is over around 500 miles, which varies every year depending on the route chosen.
Rod Hall, leader of the #760 team in the Mini-Stock class, is a living legend in the world of off-road motor racing, as his skill and persistence have led him to notch up a record 19 wins in the Baja 1000 race.
Hall is the founder of the HUMMER team, which dates back to 1993. Since then, Rod and his sons Josh and Chad have achieved wins in 11 categories in the Baja 1000 and five
championships in the BitD class. The HUMMER team competes with different Hummer models, including the Hummer H3 brought to you here by SCX® to expand our range of competition vehicles.

JJ Slot Cars

I was surfing the net when I found this interesting slot cars producer, a chinese company named Jin Jun toys . If we check some of their slot cars sets the boxes are amazingly close to ??? Yes, maybe they built them in China for the Euroepean company and now they are using the know-how. Has anybody tried them? how do they work? I´ll try to get a set and post about it. The history of SCX or spanish Scalextric

In 1962, the English company Lines Bros Ltd, owner of the trademark Scalextric , signed a contract with the Spanish company Exin . This Spanish company would sell the Scalextric products in Spain and Portugal, manufacturing everything but the cars in Spain. After some time, even the cars would be done in Spain. Exin created soon their own line of models, being the first one the famous Seat 600 in 1966. In 1971 Lines Bros Ltd, as a result of its financial problems, sold the Scalextric line of products to Dunbee , Combex and Marx. Exin went on being a subsidiary of Scalextric and selling their products in Spain. And they got more independence from the mother company.
