The MP4-22 has the cockpit lower to the previous models, according to the demands of the double champion Fernando Alonso. With this model he is trying to renew the titles obtained in 2005 and 2006 with Renault and become one of the famous drivers winning three Formula 1 championships. The car was tested by Alonso in middle January in the McLaren official presentation in Valencia. The MP4-22, that started to be designed at the end of 2005 and was finished last summer (2006), keeps only 5% of the approximately 11,500 pieces of the previous model. The rear wing also supports several changes, resting now in a central support and two lateral ones, similarly to that of the R26, that allowed him to renew the title. The nose is still keeping very low but the extractors in the lateral sidepods are bigger to channel the air better towards the rear wing, although one of the most radical changes that has been introduced in the new car is the rear diffusor. Aerodynamically, the car is about 95% new. McLaren-Mercedes has used Alonso well known abilities to help the aerodynamic department chief engineers with ‘new ideas’. The MP4-22 was presented on January the 15th in Valencia and it was huge, the event took on gargantuan proportions on a awesome circuit around the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia (Spain), far from the homeland of their star (Fernando Alonso), newly crowned world champ Fernando Alonso (Asturias, Spain) but a wonderful and big city by the Mediterranean sea anpresentacion+MP422+Valencia+Fernando+Alonso+Mac+Laren+Formula1d where the 2007 America’s Cup has been successfully organized (next edition will also be in Valencia, Spain). Alonso and new teammate Lewis Hamilton form one of the youngest driver line-ups in the history of the sport and Hamilton in particular wondered just how big F1 would be when the pair unveiled the new livery in two MP4-21 race cars in front of a crowd of more than 150,000. This was followed by the unveiling of the 2007 car, the MP4-22.

Best HO set for 2010

And here we are with the first set. In the favorite scale in the US, HO and of coursem it had to be from AFX Racing . This year my proposed set is this one: Super International Our Most Popular Set Gets Even Better! You'll notice the new look of the box, sure, but the big news is the cars. Four cool new bodies with new liveries – all mounted on our newest, fastest, best handling Mega-G chassis. No one can match the Mega-G for speed or fun. As for realism - just compare our Formula bodies to any other HO car, you'll see what we mean. All of this just adds to the already fantastic value. With 86 pieces of track you can make at least 18 different layouts in 4 lane configuration! Of course you can design your own layouts too. You’ve got everything you need to build almost any kind of track in 2 or 4 lanes – all in one box. Five different types of curved track and 4 different straights, two power packs and four controllers, 6 bridge sections, the list goes on and on. If you wanted t...

The history of SCX or spanish Scalextric

In 1962, the English company Lines Bros Ltd, owner of the trademark Scalextric , signed a contract with the Spanish company Exin . This Spanish company would sell the Scalextric products in Spain and Portugal, manufacturing everything but the cars in Spain. After some time, even the cars would be done in Spain. Exin created soon their own line of models, being the first one the famous Seat 600 in 1966. In 1971 Lines Bros Ltd, as a result of its financial problems, sold the Scalextric line of products to Dunbee , Combex and Marx. Exin went on being a subsidiary of Scalextric and selling their products in Spain. And they got more independence from the mother company. At this time Scalextric decided to sell more quantity with less quality and Exin decided the opposite. These were the golden years of Spanish Scalextric . Every child in Spain wished to have one…In 1980 Scalextric was sold again, this time to Hornby Hobbies. It seemed Exin would have no financial problems, they e...
