Best HO track

This is, for me, a real curiosity or bizarre thing. HO cars and tracks are "big" in the US, and once you know them you have to love them. But in Europe they are almost unknown or taken for toys (as far as I know Scalextric, with the micro name, is the only european company working with this scale). I can´t understand why this scale is not more known and recognized in Europe. Maybe it is a question of time.

And now, the best 2009 HO track for me is:

The "Mother of all Slot Car Tracks"!With more track pieces, more track length, more levels, more banks, criss-cross tracks, squeeze tracks, sheesh! There just isn't another track like it.The Giant squeezes an amazing amount of action into only 4' x 8' of floor space. And as if that wasn't enough you get two super fast Super G+ Formula cars. They rock! And now, the Giant becomes the first AFX set to get the Tri-Power Pack. The only power supply available in any slot car set that lets you learn to race at your own pace. Great for young kids!Leave it to AFX to bring you the biggest, baddest set on the planet.

FEATURESLargest slot car track available – More track than you can get anywhere in one setTri-Power Pack – Even young children can learn without frustrationThe best track you can buy – AFX track is easy to use, high quality and reliableColorful, highly detailed Formula bodies – Unmatched realismBlinding fast Super G+ Chassis – The most advanced chassis you can buy; you can even adjust the motor’s torqueMost powerful HO Set you can buy – Compare the AFX 22 volt (at Expert level) power pack to the 17 volt versions in other people’s setsDirectional Power Pack – Let’s you change track direction with a flip of the plugEasy plug, ProClass Controllers – Plug in or swap controllers in a snapTune-up Kit Included – Keep your cars running strongLap Counter – Race with your friends
SUPER G+ CHASSISSuper G+ is probably the most famous chassis in HO slot racing. Its predecessor, the G+ revolutionized the hobby with stunning performance that flattened the competition. Using patented design innovations it was the first HO chassis to include dedicated “ground effects” magnets. It took years for the competition to get close and by then AFX had “left the building” with the next generation Super G+. Here are some of the reasons why Super G+ still sets the pace:Unique Monocoque Chassis: Motor is part of the chassis – Lighter, stronger design means better handling and higher speedsMotor: Cantilever brush design with precision armature (Only AFX has it) – Higher RPM and more responsiveMotor: Adjustable motor timing (Only AFX has it) – Let’s you change torque to better tune the power to different tracksPick-Up Shoes: High conductivity Phosphor Bronze – Gets more power to the motorGuide Pin: Exclusive extra long tapered design – Keeps the car in the slot longerGround Effects Magnets: Extra long polymer magnets – More rail coverage in the corners for better handling

The history of SCX or spanish Scalextric

In 1962, the English company Lines Bros Ltd, owner of the trademark Scalextric , signed a contract with the Spanish company Exin . This Spanish company would sell the Scalextric products in Spain and Portugal, manufacturing everything but the cars in Spain. After some time, even the cars would be done in Spain. Exin created soon their own line of models, being the first one the famous Seat 600 in 1966. In 1971 Lines Bros Ltd, as a result of its financial problems, sold the Scalextric line of products to Dunbee , Combex and Marx. Exin went on being a subsidiary of Scalextric and selling their products in Spain. And they got more independence from the mother company. At this time Scalextric decided to sell more quantity with less quality and Exin decided the opposite. These were the golden years of Spanish Scalextric . Every child in Spain wished to have one…In 1980 Scalextric was sold again, this time to Hornby Hobbies. It seemed Exin would have no financial problems, they e...

SCX, Scalextric in Spain

SCX, Scalextric in Spain has had a long history, and a lot of problems. Its beginnings, and the curiosity of the shared name with the British company Scalextric, Superslots in Spain, is explained in one of my first posts  Spanish Scalextric or SCX in the rest of the world . After Tecnitoys, the brand belonged to fabrica de juguetes  Fabrica de juguetes from 2012 to 2016. After many problems and keeping a toy line called WRC  WRC , the brand Scalextric/SCX belongs from 2017 to  Scale Competition Xtreme, SL. (SCX, SL.)   Scalextric . This new company has started focusing on the 1/43 line, will they work as a toy company or will they be back in the hobby field? Please share your thoughts. And Merry Christmas!
