A new slot car scale

Now, we have four different scales. The one that used to be the most important in USA (HO) 1/64 with companies as Auto World, 1/32 the most popular in Europe and the one with more cars and sets (and companies like SCX, Scalextric, Ninco or Carrera), the 1/24 with huge cars and tracks (Carrera) and the affordable and every time more competitive 1/43 one (with Jiada, Artin, SCX - Compact and Carrera - Go). And now, the company, that maybe is the one with the best quality, Ninco announces a new scale and a new brand, the scale, a surprising 1/28 (not 1/24, maybe they do not want to share anything with Carrera or make the life easier to the fan) and the name Xlot (I suppose from XL or extra large). You can find more information in their official homepage http://www.ninco.com/ . Surprising move when its Spanish rival, SCX had moved to 1/43. Do you think it is an intelligent move, will they succeed? At least there are many things moving in the slot world...But the new scale is only for cars, it means you will be able to use it in your "1/32" Ninco track... The first ones in the second quarter of 2009 and they will be the Ferrari 340 and the Porsche 997. Price, less than 100 Euros...

I was surfing the net when I found this interesting slot cars producer, a chinese company named Jin Jun toys . If we check some of their slot cars sets the boxes are amazingly close to ??? Yes, maybe they built them in China for the Euroepean company and now they are using the know-how. Has anybody tried them? how do they work? I´ll try to get a set and post about it. The history of SCX or spanish Scalextric

In 1962, the English company Lines Bros Ltd, owner of the trademark Scalextric , signed a contract with the Spanish company Exin . This Spanish company would sell the Scalextric products in Spain and Portugal, manufacturing everything but the cars in Spain. After some time, even the cars would be done in Spain. Exin created soon their own line of models, being the first one the famous Seat 600 in 1966. In 1971 Lines Bros Ltd, as a result of its financial problems, sold the Scalextric line of products to Dunbee , Combex and Marx. Exin went on being a subsidiary of Scalextric and selling their products in Spain. And they got more independence from the mother company. At this time Scalextric decided to sell more quantity with less quality and Exin decided the opposite. These were the golden years of Spanish Scalextric .
