"SCALEXTRIC GETS SET TO FLOAT ON BRITAIN’S LARGEST SUPERLINER!
April 3 2008:- P&O Cruises Ventura, Britain’s latest superliner, is set to become the UK’s biggest floating entertainment centre, with a gigantic Scalextric circuit set to rev-up the on board excitement.Designed by the experts at Scalextric this mammoth digital racing circuit will take pride of place among a number of high profile entertainment features on offer to passengers.
Officially named on the 16th April by Dame Helen Mirren, Ventura’s onlookers will be treated to a fantastic spectacle as iconic F1 commentator Murray Walker adds his legendary voice to the atmosphere.
Located in the stylish Havana Bar, this super digital circuit will be surrounded with video cameras and plasma screens to capture all the turbocharged racing action for enthralled onlookers, providing friendly rivalry and fast-paced fun for the whole family throughout their cruise.
For the ultimate racing experience, the mammoth 16’ by 8’ Scalextric circuit offers enhanced digital racing, allowing competitors the option to change lanes, overtake and pit in a fast and furious multi-car action. Fans of the action can even purchase their own sets onboard to take the adrenalin fuelled excitement home with them.
Ventura provides the perfect setting for this gigantic set as it becomes the largest cruise ship ever built for Britain, accommodating 3,100 passengers. It contains 1,550 cabins, of which two thirds will possess private balconies. The superliner will transport its passengers to numerous destinations including the Atlantic Islands, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean.
Featuring fourteen public decks, eight restaurants, six boutiques, five pools and three show lounges, including the largest theatre on a British ship, Ventura’s passengers will be constantly entertained.
