SCX Compact in Europe?




This is news from Spain. According to the following article, SCX will sell their SCX Compact products in Spain since October 2007. And I suppose SCX will also sell them all around Europe. One curiosity for those that do not know about the history of SCX and Scalextric. They used to be the same company for many years with two big branches, the english and the spanish one. But they split. Scalextric (UK) has that name in all the world but Spain (where it is called SuperSlot) and SCX is the same in all the world but in Spain where it is Scalextric. So you can read in the Spanish article Scalextric meaning "Spanish Scalextric" or SCX for all of you that are not from Spain. I will try to get back with more accurate information about SCX Compact in Europe as soon as I can get it.

"MADRID, 5 (EUROPA PRESS).- Tecnitoys, la empresa que fabrica Scalextric, ha firmado un acuerdo con la compañía norteamericana Target para distribuir sus productos en Estados Unidos, país en el que prevé vender unas 60.000 unidades hasta finales de 2007, informó hoy la empresa. Esta alianza permitirá que la nueva línea de productos SCX Compact esté a la venta en exclusiva a través de la red de Target, cadena de distribución que posee grandes superficies con más de 1.5000 puntos de venta en Estados Unidos.

Así, Tecnitoys/Scalextric potenciará su presencia en Estados Unidos a través de su marca comercial SCX, uno de los principales objetivos del plan estratégico 2007-2009 de la compañía.

Por su parte, Target apuesta por el SCX Compact, producto con el que la empresa española se dará a conocer en la gran cadena de distribución estadounidense con presencia en 47 estados.

SCX Compact es un circuito de dimensiones reducidas, especialmente diseñado para niños a partir de cuatro años, sencillos de montar y con coches más fáciles de conducir. Dispone de dos versiones: Fórmula 1 y 'Tuning'.

Este mismo producto estará disponible en el mercado español a partir del último cuatrimestre de este año bajo la marca Scalextric Compact.

Tecnitoys/Scalextric tiene presencia en el mercado internacional de coches a escala, circuitos y accesorios de 'slot' en países como Alemania, México, Australia o Estados Unidos. La compañía utiliza la marca SCX, anagrama de Scalextric, para comercializar sus productos en algunos de estos países.

JJ Slot Cars

I was surfing the net when I found this interesting slot cars producer, a chinese company named Jin Jun toys . If we check some of their slot cars sets the boxes are amazingly close to ??? Yes, maybe they built them in China for the Euroepean company and now they are using the know-how. Has anybody tried them? how do they work? I´ll try to get a set and post about it. SCX, Scalextric in Spain

SCX, Scalextric in Spain has had a long history, and a lot of problems. Its beginnings, and the curiosity of the shared name with the British company Scalextric, Superslots in Spain, is explained in one of my first posts  Spanish Scalextric or SCX in the rest of the world . After Tecnitoys, the brand belonged to fabrica de juguetes  Fabrica de juguetes from 2012 to 2016. After many problems and keeping a toy line called WRC  WRC , the brand Scalextric/SCX belongs from 2017 to  Scale Competition Xtreme, SL. (SCX, SL.)   Scalextric .
