The Ministry of Hobby: Getting there

The Ministry of Hobby

At last some good news from Spain. Avant Slot , a spanish slot car maker, has created a new concept of shop/club/running center?. It is called Ministry of Hobby . You have a shop (RC and slot), a big 300" screen to watch live racing events, a small area with vending machines for sodas and coffee, a RC track and three slot tracks. Prices are very competitive (5 Euros per 1 hour in any of the slot tracks, 8 Euros for 2 hours and 11 Euros for all day). It is also very conveniently located between the M40 and the M50, close to the M511 and you can also get there with Metro, from the station Colonia Jardin in Line 10, you take the line to Boadilla and the stop is Ventorro del Cano. The address is Valdemorillo Street in Alcorcon. I will publish some pictures of the place. It is worth it trying. A wonderful place to spend the day racing with friends or with your kids!!!

The end of Scalextric (in Spain) SCX (in the rest of the world)

The commercial name SCX (Scalextric in Spain, if you want to know why of this strange situation there is an older post explaining about it) is in danger. The owner is the spanish company Tecnitoys, now in the verge of disappearing. Financial problems are not new for it, that is why distribution of SCX was lately in the hands of a big Spanish toymaker (Fabrica de Juguete S.L.U.). This last company is negotiating the acquistion of the commercial name (SCX). The question is if in these difficult times a company new in slots and with a business based upon toys will succeed in a such a difficult market? New companies are arriving to slot like the japanese Kyosho starting with 1/43 (brand name Dslot  http://www.kyosho.com/dslot43/  ). Or maybe, it will be the begining of a new and exciting age for the hobby.
